Firstly let us learn about what is a computer system ?

The term computer is derived from the word computer, which means to calculate.

It is an electronic machine that is used almost in every field because of its capability to perform many tasks. They are used for reservation of tickets for railways, and aeroplanes, used for searching information on the internet, forecasting weather conditions, diagnosis of diseases, pay bills online, shopping online, performing banking transactions online by sitting at homes etc. 

Let us learn about the Components of Computer System .

Computer System has the following main components :-

• Input Unit 
  
• Storage Unit 
• Processing Unit 
• Output Unit 

Working of Computer System 

I How the computer gets the Input ?

    Input devices are used to enter the information :

    Examples are as follows :-

                        You type with the help of a Keyboard .

                        You record your voice through a microphone .

                        You make videos with the help of a video camera . 

II How the computer stores Information ? 

    Computer stores information in its memory .

It is of two types Primary Memory and Secondary Memory . 

    Primary Memory : It stores programs and processes data . 

    It is of two types : 

    1.   RAM (Random Access Memory)                   

          RAM : Accepts new information for temporary storage.

    2.ROM (Read Only Memory)

       ROM : It is a type of information that accepts new information.To store information computer uses variety of secondary storage devices such as CD-ROM , DVD, Hard Drives , Blue-ray Disc , USB Flash Drive. 

III How the computer processes the Information ? 

        Process is the manipulation of data as per given instruction. The CPU (Central Processing Unit) is the processing device that performs all types of data processing operations.It stores the data , results and instructions .It controls the operations of all parts of computer.

IV How the computer delivers Information ? 

Output is the result obtained from a computer system after processing.Output devices help to get the output .

Examples are as follows:-

                        Monitor is used to display pictures .

                        Speakers are used for sound.

                        Projectors are the optical devices that projects images onto the surfaces.
